Here are some books coming out this year, hopefully!
I have no illusions that I’ll be READING them all this year (there’s ONLY, like, 25 of them… >.> *cough*) but for some reason I keep tabs on books that are releasing soon, so I thought I’d share them with you!
Details and release dates are, of course, subject to change, and this is just the information I’ve gathered, to the best of my knowledge. (Not to mention there are probably a billion other titles releasing this year that just haven’t been announced yet! *collapses under flood of awesome new releases*)
All of the titles below link to somewhere you can find out more about the book, if I could find links. 🙂
In roughly chronological order…
Beneath the Haunting Sea
by Joanna Ruth Meyer
January 9
This is by a Twitter friend of mine, who I met through a mutual love for Diana Wynne Jones novels, so I’m curious about her book — it looks really interesting!
The Lost Plot (The Invisible Library, #4)
by Genevieve Cogman
January 9?
(Not sure on the date, as books that release first in the UK always confuse me…) I have only read the first book in the series, so I need to get to the library (haha) and read the next two. BUT this fourth one sounds fascinating because alternate magical Chicago gangsters from the 1920s and other fun stuff. *nod*
The Thirteenth Knight (Blackfire, #1)
by Kyle Robert Shultz
January?
The dragon Malcolm Blackfire from the Beaumont and Beasley series is getting his own spinoff! Featuring magical artifacts and an interesting jewel thief lady. This is Regency Fantasy and has (I hear) Excalibur, and I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED.
Horseman (Crocket & Crane, #1)
by Kyle Robert Shultz
January?
I technically already read this on Wattpad (and you can too!) but I’m so excited for it to be released for real! It’s a magical alternate Wild West with Legend of Sleepy Hollow dashes and is so fun and I love it. XD
The Last Motley
by DJ Edwardson
February 6
The paperback is already out but the kindle version is releasing in February. Look for my review around then! I’ve been wanting to read a fantasy novel from this author for AGES because I love his blog, so I’m excited. 😀
Minstrel’s Call
by Jenelle Leanne Schmidt
Spring 2018?
I’m BEYOND EXCITED for this wrapping up of The Minstrel’s Song series. I read King’s Warrior and Second Son last year, and re-read Yorien’s Hand (SO MUCH LOVE) and I’m on the edge of my seat to get to read more about these beloved characters! ❤
Sage
by Jamie Foley
March 10
So excited and so nervous for this one! But mostly excited. XD I love Jet SO MUCH and can’t wait to see what all these characters get up to in the conclusion to a trilogy I read most of last year and loved.
The Thirty-Nine Thieves (Beaumont & Beasley, #4)
by Kyle Robert Shultz
January (Maybe)
Nick and Cordelia and Crispin and co. tackle an Aladdin retelling and I’M SO EXCITED! After that explosion of a book which was The Stroke of Eleven, I need more to find out what happens to my precious characters. o.o
King’s War
by Jill Williamson
April 17? June 19?
There are conflicting dates for this one but I THINK one is the hardcover and one the paperback release. I was mildly (read: hugely) devastated by the second book, BUT I’m still looking forward to seeing how this trilogy completes! (So pretty, too…) And then I’ll want to re-read the Blood of Kings trilogy… 😉
In the Region of the Summer Stars
by Stephen R. Lawhead
May 15
Mr. Lawhead’s newest novel after the Bright Empires series (which I loved!) — I don’t know much about this other than it being Celtic, and fantasy, both of which intrigue me highly…
The Penderwicks at Last
by Jeanne Birdsall
May 15
The final Penderwick book… I don’t know how I feel about this. o.o Or about what might happen in it! But it’s Penderwicks, so naturally it’s going on my library wishlist!
Song of Leira
by Gillian Bronte Adams
June 5
This is wrapping up the fantasy series which began with Orphan’s Song and Songkeeper and I’m on pins and needles to know what happens. o.o (THAT COVER, THOUGH!)
A Thousand Perfect Notes
by C. G. Drews
June 7
This is by Cait @ Paper Fury, who finally has a book coming out! It’s a modern story and doesn’t sound like quiiite the sort of thing I read very often, but I’m excited for her and might end up reading it at some point. 🙂
The Orphan’s Wish
by Melanie Dickerson
June 26
Another Hagenheim book, this one is also an Aladdin one (so many of those!) and I always enjoy this author, so we’ll see how it is. 🙂
Fawkes
by Nadine Brandes
July 10
I’ve never read this author before because I can’t stand dystopian, so when I heard she’s branching into a new genre, I became curious to see how this book will turn out! Alternate history/fantasy/gunpowder plot? Definitely sounds fascinating!
RUMORED
Please keep in mind that these are things that may or may not release this year or at all, so. They’re just notes I’ve made of rumored books, because I’m weird like that. XD
Lightporter by C.B. Cook
Superheroes and fun and Blaze and Anvil! Want. 😀

(Cover not final)
Bitter Winter (and No Chance Meeting?) by Jaye L. Knight
I’m not caught up on the Ilyon Chronicles by any means, but I do keep up with the releases; I’m curious about Jaye’s modern story too.
The Wolf Prince by Claire Banschbach
Book 2 of the Faeries of Myrnius, this sounds super fun. 🙂
The City Beyond the Glass by Suzannah Rowntree
A Twelve Dancing Princesses retelling set in Renaissance Italy. I definitely want in on this!
The Profile Match by Jill Williamson
I hear Jill is hoping to finish up the Spencer series, which I’m behind on, but I love keeping up with what she’s releasing anyway. 🙂
Untitled: another Legends of Light novella by Hope Ann
Continuing the series I started reading in Burning Rose, this is a Twelve Dancing Princesses retelling, so obviously I NEED IT.
Volume 3 of The Order of the Twelve Tribes by Daley Downing
And of course I need more of the modern/faerie goodness of this series which started with Masters and Beginners & Rulers and Mages. 🙂
More books by Kyle Shultz
Of course I’m excited about these, whatever they’ll be, because I’m obsessed with the Afterverse BECAUSE RETELLINGS AND HUMOR AND BELOVED CHARACTERS. (Don’t get me started on how nervous I am about all the MEEPery though. XD)
A lot of pretty cover!

Oh, my, I think you’ll just about fill up your Goodreads challenge on these books alone. Such a delightful and helpful thing to put together a list like this and I’m honored to be included. Here’s hoping 2018 is the best year for fantasy literature yet!

My feelings exactly, which is why I don’t know if I’ll be able to read them all. XD Thanks, I’m glad you found it helpful! Hear, hear!

If I don’t get my hands on Fawkes the second it goes on sale, I will unabashedly cry for about an hour. Bonfire Night is one of my favorite holidays, so I’m really excited for this one!
And, yes, yes, I am writing Volume 3 — I’m trying to finish turning around my NaNo disaster first; also getting a lot done on the field guide (probably not out till summer), since my team working on that has other commitments later in the year.
Yeah, Kyle’s going to get a lot of heat if he doesn’t quickly produce more Blackfire and Crockett & Crane! (Poor guy, let’s volunteer to build an angsty-reader barrier around him!)

I understand your feelings exactly. XD I hope it’s good! Bonfire Night is cool, yes!
Hurray! Best wishes on all of your writing projects! 🙂
Yep, we need all his books ASAP! (I love this mental image. XD But I also figure we have to leave him alive so he CAN write more books, soooo I don’t think he’s in much danger from us readers at the moment. XD)

(I’m just picturing poor Kyle locked in a turret, being forced to survive on Ramen and instant coffee for, like, 3 days, while he finishes his newest installments, as the mob waves their torches and pitchforks from the ground below. Okay, I should go write my own novels now…)
Bonfire Night is one of the things I miss the most about no longer living in England! When I read the synopsis for Fawkes, it was pretty much, “THAT ONE IS MINE, NOW.”

I still think it’s so cool you’ve lived in England! 🙂

Oh, and I probably won’t read Cait’s book, either, as it’s simply not content I like to read. But I’m very happy for all those flailing anxiously awaiting its release!

I feel the same way! But I’m also torn because I’m so curious about it… But yes, we’ll see. I can still be excited, though! 🙂

Yeah, it’s really hard for me, because on the one hand, I think it will be very good…but I just can’t get beyond the content (and I often avoid certain types of movies, novels, etc. based on that). So while I kind of feel guilty, I also know I shouldn’t.

Oh stars. There’s more to the Beaumont and Beasley ‘verse than I realized. SO MANY BOOKS. Some of these I knew about already, but not all . . . Looks like I’ve got some excellent additions to my TBR!

YAAAS, SO MUCH. I’m really excited about more of those stories. 😀 Hurray for more TBR additions! (I mean, not really, because we have SO many already. o.o But still… such cool-sounding books… XD)

LOOK AT ALL DA BOOOOOOKS! *heart eyes* Except I’m realizing I REALLY need to up my book reading game, because so many of these are sequels and things of which I haven’t even read the FIRST book to yet. So…yeah. I need to get on it! xD
BUT STILL. Obviously I’M SO EXCITED FOR ALL BEAUMONT AND BEASLEY AND ACCOMPANYING BOOKS. SO SO SO SO SOOOO EXCITED! I mean, KING ARTHUR STUFF. I NEED SO BAD. Plus I never actually got around to reading the Crockett and Crane book (#SHAMEFUL) but I much rather just read a full book instead of a serial chapters, so I couldn’t be happier he’s releasing the full thing!
Beneath the Haunting Sea looks so intriguing! And I definitely want my hands on The Last Motley! That one looks sooo amazing! AND SAGE. SAAAAAAAAGE! I’m just counting down the days for that one! I NEEDS IT, PRECIOUSSS.
I’ve GOT to read Jenelle’s books. It’s just shameful I haven’t. But I’m really excited for her getting Minstrel’s Call wrapped up. I know she’s been working so hard! Fawkes is also one I’m super excited about. And LIGHTPORTER. I WANT IT SO BAD.
GAH. I could just go on and on. I NEED ALL OF THESE BASICALLY! Looks like 2018 is going to be a fabulous year for books! 😀

YES SO MANY BOOKS! Haha, I feel the same. XD We really must do ALL THE READING. XD
Yessss, more Beaumont and Beasley! *cheering* I’m not all that into serials either, but my younger siblings kept reminding me about the chapters each week, so that’s what kept me on track. XD I’m excited it’s releasing as a really book too! 🙂 AND KING ARTHUR STUFF YAAAS! 😀
*counts down to Sage with you*
YUS, read Jenelle’s books! 😀 They’re so good, especially once you get to Yorien’s Hand! I’m so excited for the final book, aaah! AND FAWKES AND LIGHTPORTER AND ALL THE THINGS.
It does indeed look like it’s going to be a great year for books!! ^_^ (So little time to read them, too. XDDD)

What a lovely lineup of 2018 releases!
Thanks for including Minstrel’s Call… I’m sorry it didn’t make it for 2017… but I’m certain that we will be releasing it VERY SOON!!!!
I’m also excited about Five Poisoned Apples, and Mythic Doorways (the next FOF anthology).
I love your snow on your blog!!! 🙂

Oh, you’re welcome! And I’m so excited for it!! ^_^
Ooh, I forgot about Five Poisoned Apples (though I think that’ll be the following year?) and OH MYTHIC DOORWAYS I JUST SAW THE COVER TODAY AND EEEK! 😀 I can’t wait to find out when it’s coming out and what stories are in it! ^_^
Aww, thanks! It’s just on for all of December and I think it will end tomorrow or the next day. XD Glad you enjoyed the snow before it left though! I always find it fun to watch it on my blog while it’s here. ^_^

I felt like I remembered seeing somewhere that the expected release date for Poisoned Apples was December 2018…. hm… why did I think that? Will have to go look it up.
Hehe, I only just put snow on my blog… I’ll let it go falling through January or February… 🙂

Coolness! For me it’s just an automatic feature on WordPress that turns itself on and off; since I don’t have special theme options I can’t set it up like you can to go longer. XD YAY FOR MORE SNOW! ^_^
