Start of Summer #BookHaul

bookhaul1

I don’t buy a lot of new books, but lately I’ve splurged a bit because so many friends are coming out with books I NEED… plus I won a book and got one for review and went to a library booksale.

SO! I thought I’d share pics of these books because they are so gorgeous and I’m so excited about them. πŸ™‚ Here’s my April/May/June (so far) book haul.

bookhaul2
I’ve mentioned King’s Folly by Jill Williamson (and I reviewed it, whaddayaknow) which was a review copy from Bethany House. But I have to show it again because #gorgeous.

I won The Firethorn Crown by Lea DouΓ© in a giveaway from Clean Indie Reads, and it came all the way from from Nova Scotia/Cape Breton in Canada! How cool is that?? ^_^ It’s a retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses, which I mayyy or may not have a gargantuan small obsession with, so I’m very excited to read it! πŸ™‚

Paper Crowns by Mirriam Neal. I’M STILL BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS THAT THIS IS PUBLISHED AND I OWN IT AAAHH. ❀ ❀ ❀ I know I’ve mentioned it several times already but seriously, this book is one of my FAVORITEST of ever, and everyone needs to read it. Highly recommend. *nodnod* (And by “highly recommend,” I of course mean “YOU NEED THIS MARVELOUS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE GO GET A COPY RIGHT NOW YOU NEEEEED IT!”)

Songkeeper by Gillian Bronte Adams, which I read an e-ARC of before it came out, but simply HAD to get a physical copy! EEEP. Isn’t it lovely with its friends (Orphan’s Song and Out of Darkness Rising)? ^_^ (My review of Songkeeper.)

bookhaul3Aaand as I mentioned, the books by E. Kaiser Writes came out in print and I had to get these gorgeous beauties. THEY’RE SO PRETTY. She illustrated them, inside and out, and while I’ve only read Prince of Demargen so far (review here), I’m really excited about all of them. ^_^

THAW, 1-3:
Winter’s Child
Winter Queen
Prince of Demargen

Five Gems, 1-2:
Jeweler’s Apprentice
Traitor’s Knife

So! I’m really excited about my shiny new books. (I hardly ever get new books so this is really exciting. ^_^)

And then here’s my stack from a library booksale. (I’m noticing a green and gold theme…?)

JunSale2016

Sabriel – Garth Nix (Really excited to read this one!)
The Thirteenth Tale – Diane Setterfield
The Time Paradox (Artemis Fowl, #6) – Eoin Colfer (Slowly collecting these…)
The Faerie Path – Frewin Jones
A Curse Dark as Gold – Elizabeth C. Bunce
Song of the Sparrow – Lisa Ann Sandel
Tales from Far and Near – Arthur Guy Terry
The Penderwicks – Jeanne Birdsall (I love this book! ❀ )
Conrad’s Fate – Diana Wynne Jones (I love this one too! ❀ )

Also a few picture books (Farmer Giles of Ham by Tolkien with a different illustrator, a Snow White illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman, Oscar Otter illustrated by Arnold Lobel), a pamphlet on Scottish history, and a blank journal. πŸ™‚ (I collect journals… it’s a very bad habit of this particular writer…)

I’m curious if you’ve read any of these or want to? What’s a book you got recently you’re excited about? I’d love to hear! Share all, page-dreamers of mine! πŸ™‚

Dream away in those pages . . .

  1. What a lovely stack of books! And I’m very jealous, because I seriously want to read ALL of them! πŸ™‚

I got Conrad’s Fate out of the library on your recommendation (haven’t gotten a chance to crack it open yet) and picked up The Islands of Chaldea also by DWJ. But I have all these books I bought last year that I haven’t read yet… eep! So much to read, so little time! But I finished my edits of Minstrel’s Call, and it will probably be a couple of months before my editor and beta readers get back to me… so… I might have more time to read (though I have a new series I want to get cracking on).

    • Thanks! And… er… sorry about that. πŸ˜‰

Oh yay! Conrad’s Fate was such a fun read for me! πŸ™‚ I haven’t read Islands of Chaldea yet… it’s on my list though! You’ll have to tell me if it’s good. πŸ˜€ And yeah, I totally know that feeling of having so many books from long ago, waiting to be read… *guilty foot-shuffle* I may or may not have an entire bookcase full of unread books, so. πŸ˜›

AAHHH YAY FOR FINISHING EDITS ON MINSTREL’S CALL! πŸ˜€ THAT MAKES ME SO EXCITED. CONGRATS. So I hope you’ll find some time to read while you’re waiting to hear back! πŸ™‚

    • Yes! They’re so pretty… Like I said, I’ve only read Prince of Demargen so far but I’m REALLY looking forward to the others since I have it on good authority they’re awesome too. In the meanwhile they just are gorgeous on my shelf. πŸ˜‰
AAAAHH REALLY? AWESOMENESSSSS! πŸ˜€ I can’t wait for you to read Paper Crowns because it’s so wonderful! I hope you’ll like it when you do! ❀

  3. AAAAHHHHH. THESE BOOKS. I want to read EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Except I’ve sadly never heard of The Firethorn Crown but…IT LOOKS AMAZING. o.o 12DP retelling? From CANADA? YESH PLEASE. And of course I’ve already read Paper Crowns. BUT THESE BOOKS.

You got the whole Thaw set! *squeals* And look how prettyyyy. I need those so bad. And it’s just a tragedy I haven’t bought myself King’s Folly and Songkeeper. I need to do that SOON. Though with King’s Folly I keep wondering if I should wait until the next one comes out so I can read them together? I DON’T KNOW. Of course I guess Songkeeper would be the same problem. I always have this issue with series. On the one hand, I want to read them the second the each book comes out. On the other hand, I love reading things all together. BOOKWORM PROBS. *flails*

I love the green and gold thing going on with the library books. And they all look FABULOUS. I’m very slowly collecting the Artemis Fowl books too. xD Even though the first book wasn’t my favorite and I’ve never even read the others… We bookworms are so silly.

ANYWAYS. These books are drool-worthy. I loved getting a look at them!

    • BOOKWORM BRAINTWINS. XD I had never heard of The Firethorn Crown before entering the giveaway either! I hope it’s good. And yes, the author lives in Canada which is so cool. πŸ˜€ (Paper Crowwwwwnsssss. *strokes the precious*)

I think the Thaw books have to be some of the most gorgeous looking books ever. o.o And I TOTALLY get you on that get the second book now or wait for the third one too question! With King’s Folly there’s going to be TWO more books though… But it does sound like they’ll come out closer together than usual? Since the second one’s coming out in December… And I can see the Songkeeper struggle too, especially since with another cliffhanger you’re definitely going to want the third one around. XD BUT AH YES BOOKWORM PROBS.

Okay so I love how similar we are. XD I too have only read the first and thought it was okay but I keep collecting the series, meaning to read them all someday just because. I mean I did really like Artemis himself and it’s fun to read about clever people and heisty things. So. That’s a reason. But yes, we’re such silly bookworms and it’s great! πŸ˜€
